This explains what Maxuvo collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
What we collect and why
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To create your account, sign you in, and send sign-in codes and security alerts |
| Password (stored only as a one-way hash) | To sign you in |
| A device key and device name | To keep your session tied to your phone |
| Filing status and birth year | To use the right yearly limits in your plan |
| Residency category and country of origin (both optional) | Only to choose which lessons are most useful to you |
| Income, employer benefits, monthly spending | To build your monthly plan |
| Accounts, balances, debts, contributions, goals | To track your progress and build your plan |
| Budget categories and transactions you enter or import | To show your spending |
| Screenshots you choose to have read | To read the figures in them for you to check; the image is not kept |
| Notification preferences and push token | To send the reminders you ask for |
| Security events (sign-ins, password changes) with a hashed network address | To protect your account |
| Which features of the app you use (unless you turn this off) | To learn which parts of Maxuvo help people and what to improve |
| Email address you give our website's waitlist | To email you once when the app is available |
Screenshots
You can send a screenshot, such as a list of transactions, an account balance, a card statement or a pay stub, so you don't have to type the numbers in. It is sent to a third-party AI service, which reads the figures and sends them back. We show you the figures to check before anything is saved. We do not keep the image, and we ask the service never to return account numbers or ID numbers. Crop out anything you'd rather not share before sending a screenshot.
Sharing with your partner (Household)
On the Household plan you can invite one other adult to your household. Once they accept, each of you sees the other's first name, net worth and monthly plan totals. Your accounts, balances and transactions stay private.
If you both agree to a joint plan, the plan is built from both of your incomes, spending, debts, savings and goals, and each of you sees the whole plan, including the names of the other's debts and goals in it. Either of you can stop the joint plan, or leave the household, at any time; sharing stops from then on.
Launch waitlist
Before the app is in the App Store and Google Play, you can leave your email address on our website to hear when it is. You confirm that you live and earn in the US, because Maxuvo is built for people in the US. We store the address encrypted and use it only to send you one email when the app is available. We delete it as soon as that email has gone, or sooner if you ask us at support@maxuvo.com. It is not linked to an account and is never used for anything else.
What we never collect
We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, ITIN, passport, visa or other document numbers, full bank account numbers, or bank passwords. If something that looks like one of these is typed into a text field, we reject it.
Who processes data for us
We use service providers to run Maxuvo: for hosting and storage, sending email, push notifications, subscriptions, product analytics, and reading the figures in a screenshot when you choose to send one. They may process your data only to provide their service to us.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Analytics
The app counts which features are used, such as signing in, finishing a setup step, opening a lesson or adding an account, so we can see what helps people and what to improve. It sends only the name of what happened and a few plain words about it (for example "signed in with Apple"), with a random number that stands for this phone. That number is not your account, and it changes when you sign out.
It never sends your name, email, amounts, balances, account or debt names, residency category or country of origin, and it does not record your screen or your location. You can turn it off in Settings → Your data.
Our website counts which pages are read and whether people click the store buttons, look at the prices or join the waitlist. It uses no cookies or other storage, so each visit stands alone, keeps no part of a page address after "?" or "#", and sends nothing at all if your browser asks sites not to track you (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track). It never sends the email address you give the waitlist.
We do not use crash reporting.
How long we keep it
- Sign-ups that are never verified are deleted after 7 days.
- Waitlist email addresses are deleted once the launch email has been sent to them.
- When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our live systems right away, and its encryption key is destroyed so that copies in backups cannot be read. Backups themselves expire within 30 days.
- Security logs are kept without your name or email.
Deleting or exporting your data
You can export everything we hold about you, and delete your account, in Settings at any time.
Security
Sensitive fields are encrypted with a key unique to your account. Access to production systems is limited and protected with multi-factor authentication. A small number of authorised Maxuvo staff can see your account details (such as your name, email address, devices and subscription) when they need to help you or keep the service secure. They cannot see your income, balances, debts, goals, transactions or plans, and everything they look at is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to appeal a decision about your request. Use the tools in Settings, or write to support@maxuvo.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
Maxuvo is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
