Example plan

Your plan for October

Take-home pay $4,600

  1. Emergency fund Full Six months of spending, saved.
  2. 401(k) 6% of pay Set through payroll. Gets the full employer match.
  3. HSA 4% of pay Set through payroll. Tax-free for medical costs.
  4. Roth IRA $625 On pace to reach this year's limit by December.
  5. Investing $575 What's left after the accounts above.
  6. Spending $3,400 Your bills and everyday costs.

Nobody hands you the manual.

School taught you algebra, not a 401(k). Then the paychecks start, and so does the alphabet: 401(k), HSA, IRA, W-4, APR. Everyone seems to know what comes first. Maxuvo is the patient older cousin who walks you through it with your own numbers, one month at a time.

  • 401(k)
  • Employer match
  • HSA
  • Roth IRA
  • Emergency fund
  • Net worth
  • Debt payoff
  • Contribution limits

How it works

Three steps to a plan you understand

  1. Tell Maxuvo about your money

Your take-home pay, your employer's benefits, what you spend in a month, your debts and the accounts you already have. Type it in or read it from a screenshot.

  2. Get this month's plan

It starts from what lands in your bank, sets aside your spending and debt payments, and splits what's left: a steady dollar amount for each account, in a sensible order, with the reason beside every line. For your 401(k) and HSA it gives you the percentage to set with payroll.

  3. Do it, then watch it grow

You make each transfer yourself and mark it done. Maxuvo tracks your balances, your yearly limits and your net worth, and a new plan is ready next month.

The order

First things first, every month

There is a well-worn order for putting money to work in the United States. Maxuvo follows it with your numbers and this year's published limits, so you always know what comes next and why.

Maxuvo suggests types of account and an order, never particular investments.

  1. A small cushionA starter fund so a surprise bill isn't a crisis.
  2. Your employer's 401(k) matchIt's part of your pay. Don't leave it behind.
  3. High-interest debtInterest of 8% or more costs you more than savings usually earn. Highest rate first.
  4. A full emergency fundThree to six months of spending, built up over a year.
  5. Health Savings AccountWith an HSA-eligible health plan: no tax going in, while it grows, or when spent on medical care.
  6. An IRARoth for most people, traditional in a few cases. The plan says which, and why.
  7. More 401(k), then your goalsToward the yearly limit, and money for dates you've set.
  8. Ordinary investingWhatever is left keeps working for you.

Features

The questions Maxuvo helps you answer

One plan each month, and the tools to follow it, in one calm place.

“Where should this month’s pay go?”

A monthly plan with reasons

“$625 to your Roth IRA, because your emergency fund is full and you’re on pace for the yearly limit.” Every line explains itself with your own numbers, and a short lesson is one tap away.

“Am I actually getting ahead?”

Net worth tracking

Everything you own and owe in one list: savings, retirement, investments, cards and loans, even an account in another currency. Watch the total grow month by month.

“Where did it all go?”

Spending insights

What came in, what went out, and how your spending compares with the figure your plan uses. Fixed and flexible costs, money you send to family, and every category. Import a CSV from your bank, read a screenshot or add by hand.

“How do I get there by June?”

Saving goals

A car, a wedding, a deposit, a trip home. Set a target and a date, the plan makes room for it each month, and you see how far you’ve come.

“Which debt do I pay first?”

Debt payoff planning

Add your cards and loans with their rate and minimum. Every minimum is covered, then extra goes to the highest rate first, right after your employer match, with the reason spelled out.

“Am I leaving tax breaks behind?”

Yearly 401(k), HSA and IRA limits

What you’ve put in this year against each limit, a steady monthly pace to reach it by December, and whether a Roth IRA is open to you at your income.

“What even is an HSA?”

Lessons in plain words

Bite-sized cards on how each account works, in sections from “Start here” to investing, written for people new to the US system, with links to the official sources.

“Do I have to type all this?”

Read it from a screenshot

Snap a pay stub, a statement or a list of transactions and Maxuvo fills in the figures for you to check. The image isn’t kept. Premium

Questions

Good questions, plain answers

More on the support page.

Is Maxuvo financial advice?

No. Maxuvo is general education and planning. It explains common rules and a common order for using accounts, based on what you enter. It doesn't know everything about your situation, and it doesn't recommend particular investments. For big decisions, consider a qualified professional.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No, and you can't. Maxuvo doesn't connect to banks. You type your figures in, import a CSV file from your bank, or read them from a screenshot, and you check every number before it's saved.

Does Maxuvo move or invest my money?

Never. Maxuvo tells you how much could go to each account this month. You make the transfers yourself, wherever you bank, and mark them done.

Who is Maxuvo for?

Anyone 18 or older who lives and earns in the US and wants a clear plan for their money, from a first job to a growing family. You don't need to know any of the jargon to start.

How does Maxuvo decide which debt comes first?

Maxuvo's plan always covers every minimum payment. After your employer match, extra money goes to debts charging 8% or more, highest rate first, because that interest usually costs more than savings can earn. Each line says why.

Can I track accounts outside the US?

Yes. Add them by hand with their currency, and Maxuvo shows them in dollars beside the rest. It also explains the reporting rules that can apply to accounts abroad.

Is it on iPhone and Android?

Both. Maxuvo is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
